There are two types of brass: common brass and special brass:

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. When zinc content is less than 35%, it is dissolved in copper to form single-phase brass, which has good plasticity, is suitable for hot and cold pressure processing. Biphase brass is made up of two phases, 1 phase and a solid solution based on copper zinc, which makes the brass plastic decrease and the tensile strength increase, making it only suitable for hot pressure processing. Zinc’s tensile strength will decrease as the mass fraction increases, making it useless. The code names are denoted by “H + number”, with H standing for brass and number for copper mass fraction. H68, for instance, indicates brass containing 68% copper and 32% zinc. In the case of cast brass, a “Z” is added before the code, such as ZH62. ZCuZnzn38, for instance, represents cast brass containing 38% zinc and a margin of copper. The H90 and H80 are golden yellow single-phase brasses. Biphasic brass, such as H59, is widely used in electrical structures such as bolts, nuts, washers, springs, etc. Biphase brass is used for hot deformation, while single-phase brass is used for cold deformation.

A special brass is a brass alloyed with other alloying elements made up of multiple alloys. Lead, tin, aluminum, and so on are often added elements, so lead brass, tin brass, and aluminum brass can be called. Alloying elements are added for a specific purpose. This is mainly to improve the tensile strength and technology. Code name: “H + symbol of main plus element (except zinc) + mass fraction of copper + mass fraction of main plus element + mass fraction of other elements”.
