Metal Spinning Industrial Applications
This versatile technique forms sheet metals into complex shapes by blanking them or pre-punching them, then pre-forming them over a rotating tool head called a mandrel. During spinning, an adjustable form tool called a tip is used to form profiles and contours in sheet metal parts that may eventually become intricate shapes such as cones, hemispheres, cylinders, faces and even boxes with multiple interior recesses.
